What is CTEVT ?
Nepal’s technical and vocational learning is overseen by a government-run institution called the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). Students who want to explore a career in technical and vocational subjects can choose from a variety of courses at CTEVT, which was founded in 1989. The CTEVT courses include Engineering, health, and medical sciences, management, information technology, and a number of crafts including carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, etc.
It mostly entails developing policies, ensuring quality, creating competency-based curricula, creating skill requirements for different vocations, assessing people’s talents, conducting various research studies, determining training requirements, etc. In addition, it has the authority to collect WEP marks, register students, process applications for final and back exams, and manage a database of worker productivity and job status. The main challenge confronting technical education in Nepal now is determining the road to the nation’s prosperity through technical and vocational education and training, connecting general education with technology, and constructing the path to scientific progress.
It has a nine-member council that serves as its governing body and an assembly with 24 members. The Assembly and Council are both presided over by the Minister of Education. The Council employs a Member-Secretary and a Vice-Chairperson full-time.
