Lamichhane took a step into mechanical engineering and pursued a Diploma in Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician while running Suvahari Motors and working as a business manager in Burgertory in Australia. He got back to Nepal with some amazing entrepreneurial ideas and started multiple businesses such as Suvahari Kitchen and Java Zone and Bistro.
Although Shantosh Lamichhane was making a lot of money in Australia from his businesses as businesses were blooming, he eventually returned to Nepal. His main motive for going abroad was not to earn money but to learn new things and skills about mechanical engineering so that he could start such a business in Nepal. He faced lots of criticism for shifting from engineering to hospitality.
Lamichhane felt that if he had to contribute to the development, instead of developing other people’s nations, he’d rather develop his own nation. He mentions, “maile tyaha sukha paaye tara khusi payena.” He doesn’t have any regrets coming back to Nepal. He says, “If you think the price of success is expensive, wait until you pay the price of regret.”

In Nepal, politicians and the country’s leaders influence every field including intelligence, while intelligence should influence politicians. There is the use of politics in every other field including education. So, due to political disturbance in the country, he went abroad to pursue further studies.
Mr. Shantosh Lamichhane says, “What’s the point of wasting talents when politicians are influencing talents?” So, he entered into politics by joining a party as he thinks that a political party (Rastriya Swatantra Party) is essential for making contacts and could make more progress than by getting into politics independently.
Similarly, there is high political dominance in business in Nepal while business should be independent as in foreign countries. Nepal’s government is unaware of how business is helping the country’s economy. Mr. Lamichhane felt that it requires political power to open a business.
Government policies play a huge role in shaping entrepreneurship. The most important role of government policy in entrepreneurship is to provide a conducive environment for businesses to operate. However, excessive restrictions and bureaucratic procedures may discourage entrepreneurs from starting and expanding their businesses.

New views, new perceptions, and strong shoulders are needed for the development of the country.
